DON NASSER: FROM LAVISH LIFESTYLE TO LUZIRA PRISON--THE SHOCKING ALLEGATIONS
Don Nasser, also known as Nasser Nduhukire, burst onto the social scene in Kampala with a flair for extravagance. But how did he accumulate his wealth? Here’s what we know: Don Nasser sought opportunities beyond Uganda’s borders. He enlisted the help of a friend named Cheune and embarked on a journey to South Africa. However, it was in Hong Kong where he reportedly hit the jackpot. Details remain scarce, but he returned to Uganda significantly richer. Don Nasser’s lifestyle attracted attention, both admiration and criticism. Here are some notable controversies: Don Nasser was known for splashing money at parties, driving luxury cars, and flaunting designer outfits. His opulence became legendary in Kampala’s social circles. However, such conspicuous consumption often raises questions about the source of wealth. Recently, Don Nasser faced serious legal charges. He was accused of aggravated trafficking in children for sexual exploitation. Specifically, he allegedly worked with another individual, Promise Gatete, to transport a 16-year-old girl from Tagore apartments at Acacia Mall and held her captive in the Kito-Kira division for three days. Both Don Nasser and Promise Gatete denied the charges but were remanded to Luzira prison pending trial. The relationship between Don Nasser and the 16-year-old girl was discovered through phone conversations. The girl, still in secondary school, would schedule appointments with him over the phone. When her parents found out, Don Nasser fled to the Democratic Republic of Congo and later to Kenya. However, he was eventually arrested in Nairobi. Don Nasser appeared before Buganda Road Court, facing charges related to child trafficking and defilement. The case is ongoing, and the maximum penalty for this crime is death. Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayiizi ordered their return to court on October 8, 2024, to monitor the progress of the investigation.
