JJUNJU HENRY DENIES UGX 350M LAND CLAIM AT MOWZEY RADIO'S GRAVESITE
Jjunju Henry, the landowner surrounding the late Mowzey Radio’s gravesite, has refuted allegations made by Ms. Kasuubo Jane that he demanded UGX 350 million from the deceased musician’s family to purchase the adjacent piece of land. Earlier this week, Mowzey Radio’s mother, Ms. Kasuubo Jane, publicly appealed for financial assistance to raise the alleged sum to secure the land connecting to Radio’s gravesite in Kagga, Nakawuka. This plea sparked widespread debate online, prompting Henry to present his side of the story during an interview with Kasuku Live. Henry, a resident of Mazzi, Kajjansi Town Council, clarified that he acquired the land in question from Ssenfuka William on January 15, 2015, for UGX 19.5 million. At that time, Mowzey Radio had already purchased a nearby 50x100 piece of land where he built a flat. “In August 2015, Mowzey Radio expressed interest in purchasing an additional 50x100 piece of land from me. We agreed on a price of UGX 13 million, with an initial down payment of UGX 500,000. He committed to paying the remaining balance in installments,” Henry explained, presenting the agreement that stipulated the full payment by December 2015. Henry further recounted that Radio made subsequent payments, totaling UGX 2 million shortly after the initial agreement. However, Radio was unable to complete the payment. Consequently, they agreed that Henry would refund the UGX 7.5 million already paid, with a remaining balance of UGX 2.5 million. In 2018, following Radio’s tragic accident, Henry attempted to finalize the discussion but was unable to meet with the bedridden artist before his passing. After Radio’s death, Ms. Kasuubo Jane and Radio’s brother, Frank Ssekibogo, approached Henry for more details about the land transaction. “They proposed purchasing the land for UGX 15 million. Frank made an initial payment of UGX 1 million, with a promise to settle the remaining balance once funds from Bryan White materialized,” Henry said. However, the family failed to complete the payment, leading Henry to reclaim his land, which he noted had been used for illicit activities. Henry emphasized that he has never demanded UGX 350 million as reported. “I have my land title and I am seeking government intervention. I want Radio’s family, who have trespassed on my land, to vacate. I need to utilize my property,” he stated. He added that he has faced threats and violence, which deterred him from pursuing legal action earlier. Ms. Kasuubo Jane and the Radio family have yet to respond to Henry's recent statements. The controversy continues to develop as both parties seek resolution over the disputed land.
