PROMOTER NOBAT RESPONDS TO ALLEGATIONS OF NONPAYMENT FOR WEASLE MANIZO'S PERFORMANCE

Promoter Nobat Responds to Allegations of Nonpayment for Weasel Manizo’s Performance In a recent development, promoter Nobert Twizire, known as Nobat, has addressed allegations made by Ugandan music star Weasel Manizo regarding nonpayment for his performance. The accusations have stirred significant attention in the entertainment industry, prompting Nobat to clarify his position and provide details about the contractual agreement. Weasel Manizo accused Nobat of failing to pay him for his performance at the “Memories of Good Lyfe” concert. Weasel claimed that despite numerous attempts to reach out, Nobat had not fulfilled his financial obligations. “Mr. Nobat has yet to pay us for our performance,” Weasel stated. "Despite numerous attempts to reach out to him, our efforts have been met with silence. It’s unacceptable that we’ve been left unpaid for our work". In response to these allegations, Nobat provided a detailed explanation of the contractual agreement between him and Weasel. During a televised interview, Nobat emphasized that he had adhered to the terms of the contract and denied withholding any payments. He clarified that, according to the agreement, it was actually Weasel who owed him money. Nobat explained that the contract stipulated a payment of UGX 40 million from gate collections to Weasel. Additionally, the money collected from tables sold at the event was to be shared equally between Weasel and Nobat. A total of 31 tables were sold, with each table priced at UGX 3 million. Nobat stated that Weasel’s team had only paid him UGX 12 million out of his UGX 45 million share, leaving a balance of UGX 33 million. In return, Nobat had paid UGX 20 million out of the UGX 40 million he owed Weasel, resulting in an outstanding balance of UGX 13 million. Nobat expressed his disappointment over the public accusations and emphasized his commitment to professionalism and transparency. He accused Weasel of trying to play to the public gallery and stated that the artist’s behavior during their mediation meeting was unprofessional. Nobat also mentioned that he was open to resolving the matter amicably and ensuring that all parties received their due payments. The allegations and subsequent response from Nobat have highlighted the complexities and challenges faced in the entertainment industry. As both parties work towards resolving the financial dispute, fans and industry stakeholders are hopeful that the matter will be settled fairly and that future collaborations will be conducted with greater transparency and professionalism.
