UGANDAN MUSIC DUO HATIM AND DOKEY CALL IT QUITS ,AFTER FIVE YEARS
In an exclusive interview, Dokey (also known as Dr. Brain) shed light on the reasons behind their breakup. It all boils down to finances. Despite their hefty investments and hard work, their music wasn’t generating the revenue they had hoped for. They poured everything they earned back into their music and crew expenses, but it simply wasn’t enough to sustain them. As Dokey put it, “Music wasn’t returning the same energy we thought we deserved.” The split was initially proposed by Hatim, who felt overwhelmed by the ongoing financial strain. However, Dokey held out hope for an upswing in their fortunes. While the separation is a blow to their dedicated following, both artists understand that this might not be a permanent farewell. Dokey hinted at a potential reunion if they can secure the necessary funding for their music. Fear not, music lovers! The studio still holds unreleased tracks from the duo. Dokey, ever the optimist, is already working on new solo projects. Fans can look forward to fresh music from him soon. As for Hatim, he’s expected to embark on his own solo journey, exploring new creative avenues. While we bid adieu to Hatim and Dokey as a duo, let’s celebrate the music they’ve given us over the years. Their catchy tunes and infectious beats won’t be forgotten. And who knows? Maybe someday, they’ll reunite on stage, ready to conquer the music scene once again.
